beSUCCESS, South Korea’s leading startup and technology media platform, will organize beGLOBAL conference on September 13, 2013 at Four Seasons Hotel, in Palo Alto, Silicon Valley. beSUCCESS, organizer of beLAUNCH, South Korea’s biggest tech startup conference aims to bridge the Asian and Silicon Valley startup ecosystems. The event will feature discussions from thought leaders and agitators from Asia and Silicon Valley, and will showcase 10 of the Asian start-ups in a startup battle, judged by Silicon Valley heavyweights including Bill Draper (Draper Richards LP), David Lee (SV Angel), Jeff Clavier (SoftTech VC), and Christine Tsai (500 Startups).

The hope is that VCs in The Valley will be able to visualize, first hand, the excellent potential of start-ups from Asia that are expanding into the US, and that they need to be on top of this trend in order to source the best Asia-US investment deals, with the help of global partners. beGLOBAL 2013 also aims to foster more cross-pollination between East and West, with SV equity investments moving into Asia, and Asian investments coming to SV.

beGLOBAL San Francisco is supported with sponsorship from KISA / Ministry of Science, ICT & Future Planning of Korea, demonstrating the Korean government’s continued push towards an economic policy that favours new ventures, and to ensure that innovation is both encouraged and supported at the government level. We hope that this will inspire other governments across Asia to support local tech enterprise.

While the long-term goal of beGLOBAL is to be pan-Asian, this first beGLOBAL will feature mainly Korean tech companies. The organizers, beSUCCESS, are also excited to be the first private organization to lead an initiative like this, from Korea, in Silicon Valley.

“Other than Samsung and LG, Korean tech companies and entrepreneurs remain unknown in Silicon Valley and the rest of the Western world. beGLOBAL 2013 aims to introduce some of these hidden stars to Silicon Valley and the western Tech Community,” added James Jung, Founder of beSUCCESS. “We believe that by presenting these top Korean tech companies and entrepreneurs to Silicon Valley and the western world, we will stimulate greater interaction between the nascent eastern Tech Ecosystem and the well-established one in the West, and break further ground for younger Korean/Asian technology companies and entrepreneurs to be noticed and heard in Silicon Valley and beyond.”

beGLOBAL 2013 will be held on Friday, September 13th, 2013 at The Four Seasons Hotel, Palo Alto.

Some of the speakers and judges at the conference include Bill Draper, General Partner, Draper Richards L.P; Tim Draper, Founder, DFJ; Christine Tsai, Partner, 500 Startups; Tae Hea Nahm, Managing Director, Storm Ventures; Han Kim, General Partner, Altos Ventures; Saeju Jeong, Co-CEO, Noom; David Lee, Partner, SV Angel; Jay Eum, Co-CEO, Translink Capital.
